Hi, I have tried uploading and cannot.  If I to a batch upload, in the "adding new files to the gallery" as a result it says "click for details or to reload" and if I click on it it says "Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image."

If I upload as a regular user, after choosing the album it says:

The previous file could not be placed.

You have successfully placed all the files.

I have checked all permissions are 755 and the uploaded files automatically take permisisons 666.

Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks a lot, but I already went thought it all and unless I misread I am not getting any error message that appears there, that is the odd thing.

There is one album only, limit is 2 Mb and 2048 width

Thanks!

For your own (cpg) safety.. upgrade to 1.4.19 first.

Then do as suggested - we already had to tell you twice to read the section of the docs that we're constantly refering to. This happens for good reasons. You failed to set the number of file and URI uploads correctly for the group the test user is in. Should be 1/0, currently is 5/3
RTFM!

I did read the whole section, sorry if I misunderstood.  However the problem was not that.

When I set the file/uri uploads to 1/0 then I got another known error message
Following the manual I changed the thumbnail method to GD 2
Then it worked
Then I changed the file/URL to 5/3 and it still works well

I guess Imagemagick is odd on my server, I should have figured by the "Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image." message...just in case anyone else gets the same problem.  Thanks for your time

I'm having the same problem.... (see my thread)......and I'm a php rookie, but still cant see any reason why GD2 is failing (if it is GD at fault),..... GD works on my other sites on the same server ???

That's why we asked you to change the number of upload fields - you then get a more detailed error message.

Sure, after solving your issues you can safely go back to how the number of upload fields used to be before. The restriction of upload fields is just meant as a temporary method to show you the advanced error message.

You probably don't have ImageMagick. I guess that only 10% of all shared hosting accounts has got ImageMagick, the rest has got GD. You never should have picked ImageMagick if you were unsure in the first place.

Then stick to your thread instead of spreading your issues over other threads that may or may not be related. I already told you in your thread what you need to do. Locking.
