hi,

i had a fresh 1.4.18 install.  yesterday i upgraded to 1.4.19

it seems to have worked, but when i checked file versions, it says this:

QuoteUnable to connect to online repository
Coppermine was unable to connect to the online repository. This can have two reasons:
the coppermine online repository is currently down - check if you can browse this page: http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/repository.txt - if you can't access this page, try again later.
PHP on your webserver is configured with allow_url_fopen turned off (by default, it's turned on). If the server is yours to administer, turn this option on in php.ini (at least allow it to be overridden with ini_set). If you're webhosted, you will probably have to live with the fact that you can't compare your files to the online repository. This page will then only display the file versions that came with your distribution - updates will not be displayed.
The script is defaulting to the local copy of the version-files now. The data may be inacurate if you have upgraded Coppermine and you haven't uploaded all files. Changes to the files after the release won't be taken into account as well.

the thing is i do have access to php.ini for my sites, and i do have fopen turned on, and i know that total calendar works now for updating itself b/c of that, (until i turned it on, it didn't).

so then i checked this link:

http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/repository.txt

and it only goes up to 1.4.18

shouldn't it now go up to 1.4.19?

i can't tell whats at fault here.  is coppermine not seeing my php.ini file or what?

also...

the instructions say don't upload and overwrite your "anycontent.php" file, but if i haven't used it or edited it in any way, whats the harm?  shouldn't i then upload it?

Not related to php.ini, but just the fact that the repository has been forgotten. Un-tick the checkbox "try connecting to the online repository" on the versioncheck page.

does this mean the repository is terminated permanently? if so why isn't this removed from the app?  i'm confused by it all.

Joachim Müller

No, that doesn't mean that the repo is dead permanently.
