Hello there,
What is the best way to link to photos, at the moment I am just right clicking in firefox and "viewing" image to give me the location of where folder in which they are stored....is that normal?

no, you should be able to see a "deep link" to the pic at the bottom of the page in the pic info section. There are mods available that will let you even have improved link features in the mods board. Take a look at the demo for a working example. For details, post a link to your gallery.

Ive basically just started again as I had mucked up the last one ! which was  http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/photogallery/

my new one is at

http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/photees//index.php

I thought the URL given at the bottom included a position which meant that if you move things around then it would mix up photos that you had linked to........like in my blog?

Nibbler

That position url is static, it will always be the same. The thing to be careful of is using links from things like a search page, linking to the 3rd result of your search is not very useful for example.

Joachim Müller

Depends on the URL you actually use. The one in the pic info section at the bottom of each displayimage page (toggle it on/off with the (https://coppermine-gallery.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcoppermine.sourceforge.net%2Fdemo%2Fimages%2Finfo.gif&hash=31642e671ada19faeea5938e26e97f4c9cd62892)-symbol) is permanent.
Example: http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/photees/displayimage.php?album=2&pos=0 will link to the very first pic in the album2, but the user will see different results (for instance if another way of sorting was chosen). If you want to deep-link to the girl in the red parka watching a piece of paper you set a deep link to http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/photees//displayimage.php?pos=-23 (will never change unless you remove the pic from your gallery entirely).

Hmmmmmm, so is that the same with hotlinking to photos? using that URL? its that ive just tried it and i cant seem to get it to work....

Fore example in this post in my blog http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/blog/index.php?p=39 the pics dont show up when i use that url?

Joachim Müller

erm, the link http://theriverkelvin.co.uk/photees//displayimage.php?pos=-73 points to a page, not a single pic. The html code <img src="some_html_page.htm"> will of course not work.
I now come to understand what you're trying to do... You want the url of the pic only, without the html page around it - take a look at http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=431.0
