I would really appreciate any advice on setting default theme to custom theme.

This topic was disused before ( http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,45613.0.html), but unfortunately the proposed solution does not work for me.
I can change the default theme to pretty much any theme except for theme Rin (which was modified by me). Otherwise the gallery works fine with the new theme.

I did a few minor modifications to the theme which included editing theme.php file to remove album statistics as suggested here: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,32944.msg153497.html#msg153497

>>>>If you want to remove the entire stats line for an album, which includes the number of files, the last added date, and the number of linked files, you can merely remove the {ALB_INFOS} tag (and the entire line) from the two variables $template_album_list and $template_album_list_cat.  If you don't have these variables in themes/yourtheme/theme.php, then copy them from the sample theme<<<<<<

My only suspect here is that I deleted too much, not sure if that would've influenced the default theme selection.

Thank you in advance.

I can link to your theme but it looks wrong in many ways- http://www.adpaintings.com/gallery/index.php?theme=rin

What are you trying to achieve with this theme?
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I liked the layout.
All I wanted to change was to make a custom header, place a few link to my main page and to remove album statistics from album table.

I suggest making your theme work in the first place before fine-tuning it: your thumbnails are too big in terms of dimensions for the theme you try to use - reduce the thumbnail width or the number of columns.

Thank you so much for your input.
Apparently the issue was my modification of theme.php file.
With the original theme.php file in place the theme (rin) could  be set to default with no troubles.

Best regards.

Apologies for adding to the closed topic, I thought I would capture this for future reference.
I believe I finally figured how it worked .....
It seems that one can not change the default theme to the one that is currently set, at least as far as custom themes go...
E.g. if the current theme set to "Rin" while default is "Classic", one can change the default to any theme but Rin.
Solution is obviously to change the current theme to anything else, set default to Rin in my case and then change current theme back to Rin.

Regards.
