I'm a Mac user and don't have IE6 or IE7. (But I do have IE8 on a Win machine.)

I'd like to know what happens if I remove the browser hacks for IE6/IE7 support as explained here:
http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/theme.htm

What exactly will not display correctly in IE6/IE7 if I remove those lines of code?

Most of us don't have IE let alone the outdated versions. From what I recall there are some cosmetic issues without those hacks. In my mind it is about time the world stopped pandering to those with anchient browsers such as IE6 and force them to enter the real world of good browsers. Unfortunately only the big boys such as M$ can do that leaving the web developer some hard choices.

There are a few tools out there that will allow you to test however. Try - http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage

You need to upgrade by the way as you are a little behind - <!--Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.5.4 (stable)--> while the current release is 1.5.6 after we unfortunately had to release another version as a slightly annoying error crept into the earlier release.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
