I uploaded a Single picture and :

Warning: mkdir(albums/userpics/10001): Permission denied in /home/janine/public_html/gallery/db_input.php on line 227

That is ALL i got.

as far as I know i did, im admin.  Do i have to set something special up?  Please tell me the steps if neccessary.

Wanted to add that if you change the name of userpics in config, you have to also change the name of the folder on your server--cp will not do it for you. (I know--duh!  I'm tired...)
But changing that folder name and then trying to upload will give the same error.

once you have uploaded pics, you mustn't change the folder name. There's little point in renaming it anyway, it's recommended to keep the name as-is.

if you don't manage to CHMOD as suggested in the docs, ask your webhost for support. Posting a link and non-admin test user account might help as well.
