Hi all, just like to say thanks terrific gallery software....

ive several machines that access my gallery and work fine including linux, windows 2000 and windows XP clients
but i have one XP computer that even though you login and it say that you logged in you actually aint, the top of the screen does not show logout and you cant see the restricted albums/categories & you cannot upload.. all other comps work fine including other XP machines... any ideas guys and girls...it evens say welcome "username" but no go....

have mostly default settings only changed name at top of gallery... left cookies etc alone ... not broke dont try to fix it ...

works on most though ....
???

This is a local machine problem and not a Coppermine problem.  Check the machine for spyware, malware, viruses, etc.  Check browser settings, browser plug-ins, etc, especially cookie settings.  Try a different browser (like Firefox or Mozilla) on the problem machine to see if you can reproduce the problem.
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions
But there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

Tryed resetting all setting to default then going through all setting they are identical to other machines in my office but still wont work ...

got me going crazy as user has to go to another machine to upload pictures

malware-infected machines aren't easy to "set to default", this can be a complicated process, using virus scanners, spyware detection kits, registry editor e.a.
Try what kegobeer suggested and get another browser, just to test. Both Firefox and Opera can be installed quickly and are easily removed if you later should discover you don't need them.

seems like it has something to do with xp sp2 items... as winxp machines that is not logging in properly has sus updates automatically applied.. the machine in question doesnt have any malware virii etc ... constantly running Symantec AntiVirus, Adaware & Spybot search and destroy not to mention filtered internet connection... seems like one of the new updates has changed cookies settings heavily, built test machines and applied all patches the same thing happens clean machine... no net surfing prior to testing  ... firefox brings up warnings about information transmitted but then allows login to work correctly.. Internet Explorer shows message saying welcome "username" but then goes back to main screen where it just says Login instead of Logout "username".....

[off topic rant]
M$ fixes things with WinXP SP2 that should have fixed long before. One of the drawbacks is they apply all kind of security and privacy related settings with the service pack, one of them being setting privacy (cookie) to be so restrictive.
This is something all users of SP2 should be aware of: when applied, all sorts of stuff will cease to work.
The problem is not M$ fixing things but the users not reading the docs that come with the SP2, but ranting everywhere that stuff won't work anymore for them.
