Hello,
Im using GD1 at the moment, I hope to soon use Image Magick with this gallery but...

Does any of these have the capabilities of resizing the original photos to a set dimensions (eg 640 x 480)????

Joachim Müller

yes, that's what image libraries are for (at least that's why they were included into coppermine).

The difference between GD and IM lies in quality and speed, that's all.

How do I configure it so that all uploaded images larger than 640x480 are automatically resized to 640x480?

Joachim Müller

use the button "resize pictures" in admin menu to resize the full-sized images (or better still: don't upload images that are bigger than you want them, but resize them on your client before upload).
I must confess I didn't read your first posting carefully enough - I didn't get "Auto" in the subject. So the answer to your original question is: there's no functionality included (yet) into coppermine to resize pics on upload (but this could be done comparatively easily with a small hack).

ermm....   where is this "resize pictures" button as I cannot see it. If its any use Im using the hardwired theme

Joachim Müller

maybe you're not using the most recent version of coppermine - it's only in cpg1.2.0
For versions 1.1.x you can download this feature as an add-on: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/coppermine/cpg1.1mod_util.zip?download

Your posting should have gone into support board in the first place, please specify what version of coppermine you are using, so I can move your posting accordingly!

I am using Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.2.0 - RC2. But anyway, I installed that add on, and loaded the page, but how do I resize the photos? I am only asking as I dont want to take the risk of trying it without knowing how to do it properly, as I dont want to end up deleting the photos.

Joachim Müller

always do a backup first (with phpMyAdmin or similar) - see faq for a short howto.
