Upgraded to 1.3.2 from 1.0 RC3.  Changing default sort order in the config does nothing.  Changing sort order manually in thumbnail mode works.  Any ideas?

looks like i figured it out - guess if you view it first (before sort order is properly set), your view is saved in a cookie.  deleting cookie solves problem.

is there a way you can override cookie use so you can force theme change, default sort order changes, etc.?

force using a certain theme (for you only, not all users) by adding lang=theme_name to the url. Take a look at the theme selector and check how it changes to url of the gallery (if you don't want to enable it on your gallery, check the demo). The language, theme and sort order are all stored as user preference in a cookie, if you (as admin) want to take a look how your gallery looks for "regular" users of your page, delete/rename the cookie or use another browser. If you want to stop users from choosing another sort order or theme, just disable the controls for it. If you want your users not to be able to select any other theme besides the one you provide, delete all other themes from the themes folder via ftp. Do the same for the languages you don't want to use.
