I have followed the documentation but I stall at this point:

Quote5.3.6 Synchronsising the bbs groups with Coppermine's groups

Login using the admin account of your board. Go to the gallery, enter admin mode and click on the "Groups" button.

I go to the gallery and try to log in but it just re-directs me to my forums where I am already logged in but there is no sign of a link or button to the gallery.

Assistance, please.

This means your bridge file is not properly edited - post a link and test user account plus the changes you made to the bridge file if you need help, preferably after searching the board for a solution.

There won't be any additional links unless you add them in yourself.

I have this exact same problem - I'm going to go ahead and post up a test account and my bridge file for ya'll.

Change phpbb's cookie path to '/' as descibed in the docs.

I did that:

Quote// database configuration
define('PHPBB_DB_NAME', 'extende_phpbb1'); // The name of the database used by the board
define('PHPBB_BD_HOST', 'localhost'); // The name of the database server
define('PHPBB_DB_USERNAME', 'extende_phpbb1'); // The username to use to connect to the database
define('PHPBB_DB_PASSWORD', '*****'); // The password to use to connect to the database

// The web path to your phpBB directory
// If your URL to your board is for example 'http://yoursite_name.com/phpBB2/',
// you'll have to set the below var to '/phpBB2/'.
define('PHPBB_WEB_PATH', '/forum/');
// Logout Flag
// the value of this boolean constant depends on your phpBB version:
// If your version of phpBB is 2.0.4 or lower - change the value to FALSE;
// if your version of phpBB is 2.0.5 or newer - leave it as TRUE
define('PHPBB_LOGOUT_GET', TRUE);
// ------------------------------------------------------------------------- //
// You can keep the default values below if your instalation is standard
// ------------------------------------------------------------------------- //
// The prefix for the phpBB cookies
define('PHPBB_COOKIE_PREFIX', '/'); // The prefix used for board cookies

// Prefix and names for the database tables
define('PHPBB_TABLE_PREFIX', 'phpbb_'); // The prefix used for the DB tables
define('PHPBB_USER_TABLE', 'users'); // The members table
define('PHPBB_SESSION_TABLE', 'sessions'); // The session table
define('PHPBB_GROUP_TABLE', 'groups'); // The groups table
define('PHPBB_UGROUP_TABLE', 'user_group'); // The group/user table

but now whenever I try to go to the gallery it redirects me to the forum.

edit:  Wait I think I know what I've done wrong NOW.  I went into the phpBB admin page for my forum and changed the cookie path from '/forum' to '/'

I have to wait until I get home to change the bridge file back to what it was.  Hopefully that will fix it.  :D

Edit Number Two:

That didn't work either.  Bridge file now looks like the first one I posted, cookie path in phpBB is '/'

Edit number three:

I think I know what happened now.  I had the cookie path entered incorrectly before, and I was having log in problems, so I ran a cookie fix that I got from the phpBB support forums, and that 'fixed' my phpBB problem, but made the coppermine problem appear.  I changed my cookie NAME back to what it is supposed to be (phpbb2mysql) and now it works like a charm!  Thanks so much.

(Aren't you glad I edited?  You'd have like sixteen posts here if I didn't. :p)

yes, thanks for returning and posting your solution. It would have been even better though if you wouldn't have replied to a thread that deals with "vbulletin" with your phpbb issues in the first place... ;)
