I recently changed from standalone CPG to Dragonfly. and I gotta say. I like the standalone a lot better. If only the standalone came with a news manager, and maybe even polls.

Could you please provide some specific feedback? It would be useful for undecided users, and developers of both teams.

What are you looking for in news management?

News manager and polls could probably be accomplished via plugins for v 1.4.

MonkeyManx

Just a simple news script would be great. Maybe if you could configure how many articles to show on the main page. And maybe have a special user group who could post news and modify the polls. It would be nice if it showed who posted the news ect.
I tried bridging a simple news script to nuke (as far as user logins) but I couldnt get it to work.

To me, Nuke is a little over-kill for my site. The features it comes packed with are nice, but not worth the fustration of bridging standalone to nuked. (btw i couldnt figure out how to do it).
I feel kinda like a php-failure.

Maybe something like minicms for news management? http://cpg-contrib.org/index.php?file=minicms/cms&id=11

In its current state, it doesn't have the features you want. However, they are on the road map.

There are some poll scripts released under GPL. Someone could probably make a plugin to incorporate them into coppermine.

Can miniCMS be installed on 1.3? Does it reset all the users? Where can I download it?

Tranz

It cannot be used with 1.3. It can't even be used with earlier versions of 1.4. You would have to install the latest version of 1.4 from CVS but it is still in beta, so you must go to the 1.4 board and read more on how to get 1.4 and the caveats.

I kind of decided that I would like my users to be able to add links aswell. I am tinking that I should bridge e107 and CPG 1.3. Do you think that is a good combo, cuz I tried the 1.4 and the no support on that is killing me cuz I cant get the album list page to work.
