Alright, so I've begun using Coppermine as pretty much my main web site.  And it's great to use, but there's a few things that really need improvement if it's going to be a large sized gallery and not just a small to medium sized gallery and there's other things that could just make it better.  1. Only being able to upload 5 files at a time in my web browser (I haven't got around to learning how & where to upload via FTP, maybe this will solve a lot of my problems?), 2. needing to place each picture in a gallery at a time from a drop down menu (the drop down menu works well for now, but as my gallery grows there's going to be over 100 galleries and categories, that's rather difficult selecting which one to place it in each time, I think this can be solved if I can just choose which gallery to upload all files to instead of needing to select which gallery each time I edit the specifics of an image.  3. Animated gif's don't upload & I haven't got around to installing image magick (hopefully I'll get around to it soon).  But there should be a script added that atleast makes a thumbnail like it does for the video and audio that says:  Animated Gif Image (or something to that extent).  4. When you upload a video or audio you should have the option to upload your own image for the thumbnail picture it shows instead of just going to the static message of which file type it is.   5. There should be an option on audio & video that allows you to select whether you want it to be downloadable or not.  So that people can download it to their computers and not just stream it.

Anywayz, I think that's all of my suggestions to make Coppermine better so far.  I understand you can only do so much, but hopefully maybe by the time my gallery starts getting unbearably big some of my suggestions will be added to make it easier.  I sure hope so.  If not, it's still a great gallery, one of the best out there, and I thank you!  P.S.  If you needed me to pay you money to hurry along any of my suggestions I would be willing to.  Just message me and let me know how much you would need to get my special interest additions added and I'll let you know if I think it's worth it and if it's the right price I'm willing to pay.   Thanks.

Most of these are already being discussed on the board, and there are some mods that can do what you want. If you want to request a feature to be in a future version you should post on the feature requests board, and 1 request per thread. If you want to fund a new feature then use the paid help board.

Thanks a lot for your help.  It's good to know that these are being talked about and implemented.  I think I may make a few posts about additions where you said to to begin with.  And wait and hopefully it will be in a new version rather soon.   Plus, I'll see about those mods and hopefully I can find some that will do atleast some of the things I'm wanting it to do.  If it comes to the time I really need those extra things added I'll just use the paid board and hopefully get some help from there.

Thanks a lot!  Your help is much appreciated.

Any suggestions on how I should better organize my photo gallery for now?  That's another problem I'm having.  And that's nothing to do with the fault of the gallery, it's just me not being as organized as I'd like to be.  By the way my gallery is located @ http://www.theskiptracers.com/pictures/

Thanks again.

You'll want to learn about the ftp/batch-add for adding larger number of pictures. That will help a lot.

Also, there's a popular thread somewhere called "Show us your galleries" that has some pretty big collections. Find that and look around a little.

There's more to Coppermine than appears at first glance. It just takes a little learning.

Good luck.
