Making "funny video" site with user comments?

I want something like guzer.com where it's a simple column of funny media, one above the other, with description to one side. Down the left would be content links, links to other sites etc. I wondered how straight forward it was to hack about the the templates to create something like this? Maybe similar already exists?

left handed navigation is possible. Take a look at the demo, using the theme dropdown fields. Download the theme that comes closest to your need and modify it as you want.
