I am having trouble with the primary grouping.

All my users were able to access the gallery uploads at one point in time now several users after I added them to another group in smf can no longer upgrade.

I had to add another group in smf and I added all my users to this new group and it seems to have taken on the primary tag ? Why? How? There is no function within smf that I can find to set which group is the primary group for each user. I am very concerned by this and it seems your gallery is the only thing that utilizes this information as smf uses all the groups to determine what peeps can and cannot see/do.

I know your not smf but as your bridge was designed to work with it I think of you as the more qualified of the two to help figure this out. I am also assuming you would know this since you folks designed it knowing this would function a certain way.

There should be an easy way to determine and set the primary groups no? How do I figure out which and set which?

Thanks in advance,
Anihc

there is a functionality in smf's user interface to set up a user's primary and secondary user group, so I'm not sure what you're refering to. When modifying smf's groups, remember to visit coppermine's groups management panel as well to trigger a sync.

I must be overlooking where this is, would you mind pin pointing its location for me? That is one part of what I need to know to fix my problem.

Quotethere is a functionality in smf's user interface to set up a user's primary and secondary user group

And how exactly does this trigger work? Is it docuented somewhere I can read more about it? Do you just go to coppermine groups management panel and it just occurs? Or must you do something else, and I suppose this needs to be done right after changing smf groups and not on the off chance the next day or after surfing a few web pages?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did do a search but the I could not not anything more specific on prim/sec groups just the fact that coppermine looks there and that the next release is supposed to utilize all of smf groups not just the pprim/sec which sounds good to me :) And I could swear I looked at all the admin pages in smf and cant find anything that sets primary/secondary.

Could it be because I am using smf 1.1B3? off chance but it shouldn't be that or could it?

Thanks,
Anihc

Regarding the smf usergroups, see attached screenshot. However, you better ask for smf support on the smf boards, not here on the coppermine forum.
Just visiting coppermine's group page will trigger the sync, as I suggested. This is described in the docs:
Quote5.3.6 Synchronsising the bbs groups with Coppermine's groups

Login using the admin account of your board. Go to the gallery, enter admin mode and click on the "Groups" button. This will synchronize Coppermine groups with those of your board. The permission you will see for each group will be completely messy, so take some time to set them properly.

Each time you add or delete a group in your board you will need to do the operation above in order to keep the synchronisation of the groups.

When you will try to login / logout or manage users from Coppermine, you will be redirected to the corresponding page of your bulletin board. Once the login or logout is performed you won't be redirected automatically to the gallery because your board does not have any function for that. It's up to you to add a link on your board to get you back to the gallery.
Next time, please read the docs carefully before posting.

Thanks a bunch, hopefully this will give others that need it and could not find it via search and easier time looking :)

I could swear I looked at that accounts related settings several times but I have been resolving many many different upgrade/mod issues so I must have just looked right past it.

And yeah I guess I should have read the docs more closely too, IT SYC'd SO SMOOTH!! I didn't think there was anything wrong. (outside of the create an album which I also missed and the logging issues which are know issues between smf/coppermine.

I put together everything without instructions and it ussualy goes well but some times there is the odd nut left over and ussually that is me :)

Thanks again,
Anihc
