Ok this is gonna sound a little basic, and I appologize for not taking more then 15 min to look for the info in old posts, BUT:

Does the Coppermine search option use the JPG "Keywords" to search?

Or will it use the comments given to it as in Photoshop?

I appologize for my newbie-ness, but I am thinking of asking my site host to start using Coppermine, and I wanted to check about how I can use the info already in the file versus having to go into Coppermine and "RE" keyword everything.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

coppermine can display some of the EXIF and IPTC tags that can exist as meta information within a picture file. See attached screenshots for an example. The unsupported devel version cpg1.4.1 (which is in beta stage right now) features even more exif support, with an exif manager that let's the admin decide what exif data to display.

Actually what I needed to know isn't about displaying info.

I know you upload your pictures into Coppermine, and then add in search words, so that a user can go into the gallery and type in "flower" and then copper mine will show a selection of the gllery I have set search words for that say "flower".

What i need to know is if the keywords I gave to the file with windows (right click/properties/Summary/KEYWORDS) will be searched by coppermine.

I have most of my gallery alread keyworded this way, and I am hoping I don't have to add them back in (to coppermine) for the search option to work.

Thanks agian for your support.

I don't think that coppermine can read proprietary Windows meta data. Afaik the Windows meta data is not exif.
