We're currently trying to improve the content of the coppermine demo. The goal is to have at least one file of every filetype that coppermine is pre-configured to display available on the demo page as well, and to have nice pics in it as well instead of the existing plain ones.
Therefor, we're asking photographers and artists to contribute pics, movies and other "coppermine" files that you would like to see on the demo. Of course they have to be owned by you (so don't upload files that you got from another site on the web, even if you believe they're public domain). To avoid legal issues with stolen pics, we will need proof that the contributed files are actually yours, so there will be checks.
The description of the files that get added to the demo will of course contain the name of the artist (that is you) and maybe a link to your homepage (if you wish so) - please fill in the needed description fields.
We can't accept nudity (even mild, artistic nudity) nor any other non-worksafe content, and of course the file-size must be small (especially for the movies) - the smaller, the better.
We can't offer any kind of reward or compensation except a lot of page impressions and your name and site being mentioned (a watermark would be OK as well). After all, it's a nice contribution and a good way to give something back to the community for the app.
Pics should preferably contain EXIF/IPTC data.

To upload any files, go to the competition album on the demo page. You will be able to upload your files there using the "upload files" link (you need to be logged in). Your files will be visible after admin approval.

Thanks in advance - I'm looking forward to your contributions.

File types we're particularly looking for are:
  • video: asf, asx, mpg, mpeg, wmv, swf, avi, mov,
  • audio: mp3, midi, wma, wav, ogg, ram, ra, rm
  • images: jpe, jpc, jpx, jb2, swc, iff,
  • archives: rar, gz
The video and audio files are just meant to be a proof of concept, so they should (for bandwidth reasons) only be low-res.

Pictures shouldn't be larger than 1024x768 (for bandwidth reasons). Please don't hotlink large images yet to this thread

Submissions to the competition album are open for 3 more days (untill Thursday 2006-01-19). After this, uploads will be disabled and voting will be enabled. Those who have posted that we're free to take pics from their sites are welcome to submit their favorites, as we're not going to download pics from the pages submitted.

Submissions are closed, I have enabled voting for the competition album. I'll create another announcement thread to ask users to vote. Locking this thread now

Hi GauGau,

Feel free to use any photo for my site http://www.steverobbins.co.uk/gallery

I own the copyright to all the pictures and would be pleased if you want to use any.  I'll even load them on myself if you like.

Best Regards
Steve Robbins.

GauGau, what pic dimensions would you like?

I edited my first posting to answer your question, as others might want to know this as well.

These photos are yours for using if you want them: I had them on my gallery for quite some time and all were taken by me with my Digital Rebel XT

Here are my contributions, I hope some will make it to the demo!
All pictures taken by me march-april this year in Mexico.

Btw, AngelC, SaigonK and PYAP - I really like your pictures. Really nice and professional, makes me want to be a better photographer than I am. :)

<edit>Just realized the original post said attach using "Additional options", but now everyone has put images right in their posts, as have I as I can't attach more than three pics using "Additional options". Let me/us know if we should change it, remove the hotlinks, make multiple posts, or just limit contributions to three per person..</edit>

<edit2>Gah, I noticed I used the wrong action when resizing in Photoshop, so most of my pics do not have Exif info, but ofc I have the originals. So if you decide to use any of my images and that particular one doesn't have Exif info, please let me know and I'll fix a new one for you!</edit2>

Some of my fellow dev team members have pointed out that it's a silly idea when you are promoting a web gallery script like coppermine with a competition to ask users to attach the files to their posting. Instead, I should have started an album on the demo that holds the files and allow user uploads. I apologize for being so dense - that's of course absolutely correct.
So I created such an album right now, giving upload permissions to all registered users and moved the pics that have been submitted so far directly in the posting to the album.
From now on, all who want to contribute should visit the album Artists wanted competition and upload their files to it using the "regular" coppermine controls - they will be visible after admin approval.
I went through the previous postings and edited them accordingly, as well as my first posting on this thread. Again, please excuse me for being a moron in the first place, I shouldn't have made this so complicated (should be much easier now).

Cheers

Joachim

hm, not sure what's wrong for you - I just tested (using a non-admin test user account), worked as expected. Other users like netfalls and claude258 where able to upload just fine. Can you post a screenshot of how the menu looks like for you on the demo? Also, check the cookie settings in your browser. Also, try accessing the upload screen directly by following this link: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/upload.php

here the screenshot when trying to access directly to upload.php.
I've cleard my cookie first .
