upgrade from cpg1.3.3 (your version) at least to cpg1.3.5 asap

green_day01

I changed the CHMOD values to what you said...but how do you update to a newer version?  :-\

You download the new package and read the docs that come with it. To read it in advance: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg13x/docs/index.htm#13

I encountered exactly the same problem as everyone else when trying to upload for the first time...

However, I KNOW to read forums and FAQs and so quickly found the posts and tutorials. In accordance with the instructions (CHECK YOUR PERMISSIONS ON THE /ALBUMS, /ALBUMS/USERPICS, AND /ALBUMS/EDIT DIRECTORIES.  ALL SHOULD BE 777 OR 755.) I checked the perms...

Here's how they were set by the install:

albums - 777
albums/userpics - 755
albums/edit - 755

Strictly speaking, that should be OK (they're 777 or 755) but I guessed that if the parent dir (albums) was 777, it didn't make much sense to restrict the subdirs (userpics and edit) to 755 and so wouldn't be any risk to open them up to 777 as well. When I did, it all started working!

So I would recommend a disambiguation in the FAQ - remove the "OR 755" at the end and just have everything 777.

Some servers are set up so that 777 won't work and they must use 755.
