How can i view the users registerd user name and password ?

Joachim Müller

Browse your users with the user manager in coppermine when logged as admin. Usually, you don't have to see the passwords of your users, it doesn't make sense and is a matter of privacy. However, you can see them using a third-party tool like phpMyAdmin, browsing coppermine's users table. This works in cpg1.3.x, as it stores the passwords in plain text. In cpg1.4.x, the passwords are being stored encrypted by default, so you can't view them at all. What's the point though, why would you want to view the passwords?

mashad

Its not my intention of doing so but just a question see if its possible . ANy way of encrypting it ?

You ask me to upgrade to 1.4 where as gau gau mention its encrypted in ver 1.4  ? dosent make sense ? Could u eleborate please ?
Other then that is it possible to send a copy of user name password when registering to admin email during registration ?

Joachim Müller

You asked if there's any way to encrypt it, and Nibbler told you how this can be accomplished. What's the actual question?

mashad

Quote "In cpg1.4.x, the passwords are being stored encrypted by default, so you can't view them at all. " from gau gau.

1.4x is a tottaly different version with 1.4 ? Is there a 1.4 ver ?

So if im using version 1.3 and just upgraded to 1.4x , and by what gaugau said . I cant view the usename's and passwords at all because its encrypted ? right ?

Nibbler

Encrypted passwords is an option when you upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4 and is permanently enabled for new installs of 1.4. 1.4.x refers to any sub-version of 1.4 (eg. 1.4.2 or 1.4.3)

mashad

Ops i made a mistake in a typo i guess . I meant Decrypt.  Is there a way to send username and password that was registerd to admin email ?

Joachim Müller

once you have encryption enabled, you can't read the password anymore, you can only request a new password using the forgot password link on the login page. However, this all doesn't apply to you, as you posted in the cpg1.3.x support board, so you must be using cpg1.3.x, where there's no password encryption. Imo this discussion is leading nowhere, I just can't understand why you insist on something that is silly in the first place.
