I have a strange problem with batch-add of pictures.
If I select the folder containing the pictures I want to batch-add, I get for the new pictures (not added yet) red crosses instead of thumbnails. But if I click on a red cross, no error is shown, but the right picture opens in a new window.
When I select the CPG-album where the new pictures should be added and start the batch-add process the pictures are added to the selected album without any errors, but instead of the "OK" signs I get again red-crosses.

I'm using CPG 1.4.8 on a Linux (ClarkConnect) machine. The permissions of the albums folder and the folders within it are all set to 777.

I searched this forum and found other topics about red crosses, but they were a little bit different. I read carefully the mentioned link http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#upload_trouble and did all what is written there.
I activated the debug-mode and the "single file upload only".
When I try to upload using http-upload it works all very well. I can upload a picture to a chosen album and get again no errors.

I a now at a point that I don't know how to proceed solving this problem.

So maybe one of the experts can take a look at it?

Thanks in advance! I really hope that my problem can be solved.

Regular http uploads work fine. Please send me a PM that contains a link to this thread and an admin account.

@Gaugau

It looks like I have a similair 'problem'? I recognize the problem described. See the topic "not really an error, but still strange"

Please don't cross-post. Keep your replies to "your" thread. The symptoms may be identical, but maybe the reasons differ (they may be the same though as well). It doesn't help to say that others might have similar issues. After all, there aren't so many things that can go wrong, that's why we're able to do support at all: if there were thousands of things that could go wrong, supporters would be unable to spot any issues just because of the overwhelming number of possible failures. Thankfully, there is only a limited number or possible reasons for errors that we'll be trying to solve.

@whmeeske: batch-adding using the admin account you PMed me worked flawlessly, no red cross or similar (see http://www.whmeeske.nl/anne/fotoalbum/displayimage.php?pos=-481). Maybe it's something on your client, try using another browser for troubleshooting purposes.

Hmm, that's weird. OK, I'll try one of these days another browser and shall let you know the results.

I have another question about this problem:
If I in the batch-add window right-click on a red cross and open the properties of the picture I get the following:
Name = showthumb.php?picfile=upload%2F2006%2Fmei_jun%2FAnne0713.JPG&size=48
Address (URL) = http://www.whmeeske.nl/anne/fotoalbum/showthumb.php?picfile=upload%2F2006%2Fmei_jun%

Instead of "/" there are some "%2F" shown. Do you know if that's correct?

I installed Firefox as alternative browser.
I uploaded again some new pictures. When I go with Firefox to the upload-folder in batch-add I see the new pictures, but there are no thumbnails shown and also no red crosses, those fields in the table are empty. Can that be a browser-issue? If I go to this forum using Firefox I don't get the avatars shown in the topics.

Let's try to add 1 new picture using Firefox. In the next window I get instead of red cross, OK, PB, DP, NA the message "click for more info or to load again".
When I click this message I get a blank screen. When I go again to the gallery I see the picture is added correctly.

I don't get it, adding pictures is working fine, but not with the thumbnails... ???

What else can we test and check to solve this problem?

Check your client PC for paranoid pseudo-security apps like "Norton Internet Security" or similar crap - they might be set to "protect" your from seeing what they consider to be ads.

I don't use "Internet Security" stuff, only McAfee AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm firewall.

And your Z.A. is the one disable it and try again.
‍I don't answer to PM with support question
Please post your issue to related board

I don't see why that should help, because I use ZA for quite a long time, and in the previous versions op CPG I didn't had this problem.
And at my work I tried it on several machines, all with different settings, but on all of them I had the same problem, able to add pictures but with red crosses or nothing.

But I'll try it when I get back home.

My problem was identical with the one described in http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=32838.0
I had some contact with TS by PM and e-mail, so now my problem is also solved :)
Thanks for helping me with this.
