Help Installing

ive had problems with my database for ages, cant get amessage board working nor this gallery
anyway i got my host to reset the database and started again
ive installed phpmyadmin into one folder
and created a new blank database in the 'databases' list. is that right?

anyway come to install this and i get

Could not create a mySQL connection, please check the SQL values entered

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)

I do have a folder in my webhosting called /tmp/ etc but the folder is empty - i deleted my site and started again a month ago so maybe it is something to do with that? but all these installations are after i got my new database up ...

any suggestions?

ask your host about your local mysql server Host
what did you enter for MySQL Host?

localhost as my hostname

in phpmyadmin it has
yroot as the main user with all privilages etc and has hostname as localhost and i chose the password
thats in phpmyadmin etc

Mysql error said that it can't conncet to that server (this is not user or permission issue, this is server issue)!

you are using yahoo hosting
so please check this:

I think that you should use mysql instead of localhost

just a quick Q...
got it all set up now but i dont want the  random pics / latest additions etc at the bottom. is there a simple way to not show them
