I was tasked with installing/bridging coppermine with an existing (but young - ie not modified/populated/overly used) phpBB (of I think the 2.0.20-something version).

Now - I read what coppermine is, a photo album tool (but I've never used or seen it). I know phpBB (that is where my experience lies).

I ran the bridge and it all seemed ok - my (STUPID) question is, should I see something oh the phpBB? A new link? Aaaaa something in the admin/config area?

Once bridged will coppermine automatically pick up the theme/template that the BB uses (which is about the only mod on that board is a custom theme/template).

I'm sorry for taking up someones time - I honestly AM reading thru documentation / FAQ's / and looking at some others galleries (but not seeing any bridged with a phpBB and used in a real life board).

Thanks so much in advance!

None of those things will happen. The point of bridging is that you can use the same users and groups that you already have in phpbb in your bridged coppermine instead of requiring them to re-register for Coppermine.

Ok.  I'm sorry for this thread.

So CM doesn't integrate so that users/members of the BB can have albums (I have seen that on various BB's before)?

This is still basically a 'stand alone' thing - the only thing that integrates is 1. the user names & passwords (and with that once they log into one are they automatically logged into the other? Which ONE will they join? I know once integrated they share a database)

and

2. the fact that you can change the template so it looks like your site?

(again thanks for the answers)

The BB is the 'master'. I don't know what you mean about albums. Users can create user galleries and upload files just like in a regular Coppermine gallery. Themes are not involved in bridging atall. If you want them to match then you need to find/create matching themes.

Ok -

I acted like a new user who came to my sites home page.  I go to register with Coppermine and it threw me over to the BB - so I went thru the registration process in the BB, and got that confirmed and then it just left me in the BB.

How are people typically 'linking' their coppermine galleries if they are integrating with a BB?

As far as albums - photo albums - photo galleries.  I'm using the terms interchangably.

I belong to a BB where the members of teh bb have a photoalbum, they can access directly in the BB environment and you can see a link to their photo album/gallery in their BB profile.

So I wasn't sure what to expect when CM bridged with phpBB.

So back to my dilema - if the BB is the master, and you go thru registering, how are people handling getting them back into the CM galleries and getting traffic to move between the two?

Make a link or include it in your navigation system. The BB is not modified atall by bridging.
