I've followed the online documentation and everything went well. Now that it's been upgraded I can't log in (even as an admin). I get the following error.

"You don't have permission to access this page."

I upgraded from 1.3.8 to 1.4.8

Do you mean that you can't login or you are not recognised as admin?

It's like It lets me log in, but then logs me right back out. as in...


I put in my username/password
I then get the "Welcome quake101 ..."
(I also noticed I don't see any of the menus as if I was loged in)Then when I try to access the admin.php or any other "admin" page I get the..

"You don't have permission to acces this page." error.

So after all you can log in, but the login doesn't stick. This sounds like a cookie or browser issue to me. Post a link to your page and (if you have one available) a non-admin test user account. If you don't have a test user account, just post the link to your page.

I've cleared my cookies, and tried it on both firefox and IE.

is what I get when going to any intermediate image. That's expected behaviour if you don't do as suggested in http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/theme/

I'm using the smf theme, so I just downloaded the newist version for 1.4.x and I'm still getting the same thing after login.

(I re-named the old outdated theme to smf_old and put the new smf theme in it's place, so coppermine should be using the new theme)

- Your [CPG] cookie setting is fine , check for some security app on your local computer , something like ZoneAlarm,Norton Internet security & ....
- post a test user if you can

I'm not running any type of local security app. And I am unable to post a test user as if right now. :(

and download attachment , unzip it under root of gallery and run it , this way you have a test user with
username:testuser
password:test
make sure to delete that file , after user creation

Ok, I ran the support.php, but I don't belive it created the testuser.

Any ideas?

I've deleted all the files and re-uploaded them. I've been looking into it, but I'm lost on what the heck is going on.

bmossavari is an experienced supporter and his reputation is flawless. He knows what he's doing and I think you can savely trust him not to ruin anything. It's very generous of him to offer individual support. I would re-consider his offer and send him the admin details if I were you. If you're afraid/paranoid, you could change those admin details once bmossavari is done with support.

I think we can mark this one solved,
he didn't have any group under xxx_usergroups and the solution was re-creating them manualy by run this query under phpmyadmin

INSERT INTO xxx_usergroups VALUES (1, 'Administrators', 0, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 3, 0, 5, 3);
INSERT INTO xxx_usergroups VALUES (2, 'Registered', 1024, 0, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 0, 3, 0, 5, 3);
INSERT INTO xxx_usergroups VALUES (3, 'Anonymous', 0, 0, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 5, 3);
INSERT INTO xxx_usergroups VALUES (4, 'Banned', 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 5, 3);


xxx is the prefix of tables
for others that see this post :
   if you want to run that query please change the xxx with your gallery's prefix
