Hi, I'm not sure exactly what to search to get the answer to this question.

I was looking at another gallery someone made and when you click a photo in whatever category it is in, it shows it as being in the album for that user.

Is there a way to have all the photos users upload (regardless of what category they put them in) to appear in their own user gallery? I assumed that was what it was supposed to do. I am completely confused though, because when I log in as a user (test) and upload a test image, I put it in the category I wanted, but I don't even see a place to put it in a user gallery? But I do have it enabled in the group configuration.

ps if you need to test it the user is test with pw testing

The gallery you have been looking at probably allows users to have personal galleries. Please read the docs, this is explained there.

Yeah I have it set to allow personal galleries, but I don't see the option when you are logged in. When I go to upload file (under the test member, not under admin) it only has the choices for the custom categories/albums I made. And even if I look at the main album list it isn't showing user albums. Under settings I have that registered users can have personal galleries/upload stuff and don't need approved by me. I even checked that they can edit public galleries.

Your registered users should have the options to create an album if you enabled personal galleries. Of course they have to do so first before they can upload to it.
For details, post a link to your site and a non-admin test user account.

Does each user have to have subalbums? Either way, it won't let the user add an album because it says you have to select an album first - but the user galleries won't show up even though under admin it is there which is why i'm confused.

Uploading to personal galleries works as advertized (see http://72.9.235.10/~jfiles/kylexyfans/gallery/index.php?cat=10002) . Each user has to create at least one personal album first, before being able to upload to it. This is being explained in the docs, as I already pointed out. Please do so now and read the docs.

I have been reading the docs it's not helping me. I just found 4.6.1 for creating which hasn't helped me with what I want. I finally see now under create an album it has listed my gallery as a category (doing this under a different user) for whatever reason that wasn't there before. I don't understand why it is now. And I got it to add a picture, but I used the same key words as I did for the other album I want it in (as I saw someone else said in this forum) but it still only appeared in the user forum. On the other site I mentioned the photos appear in the main part of the gallery under the certain category but are in each user's gallery as well. Maybe I'm not explaining what I mean right because the documentation isn't helping me unless I'm looking for the wrong thing.

Hi Scullygirl,

I think the function you are looking for can be found by using the keywords configuration.

Look at it this way:
A user loads his/her photos in his/her own gallery.
You have set up a public gallery with a keyword string 'my_party_pics' (only one keyword in albums)
The user adds 'my_party_pics' to his image keywords in 'properties' (in the 'My gallery' section)
magically - the image appears in both galleries, but is physically only in one.

Logged on as admin you can find out more info on keywords by clicking the '?' next to the keyword box in the album properties window.
