??? I have tried installing coppermine onto my webhost (YahooGeocities) Firstly is it ok to us on Yahoo ?? Secondly I have managed to upload all files and access coppermine/install.php via my website but I cannot get past the First stage of installation.  After inputing my details username, password etc and entering my SQL Databases details (as set up in myPHPAdmin Panel) I get the following error when I submit.  Any Quick and easy answers?? ?? Help!!!!

MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)

Is it because I am hosting via Yahoo???

Yes, this is not a coppermine error, but an error only your webhost could maybe fix. Free webhosting @ Yahoo doesn't fullfill the minimum requirements for Coppermine afaik. There are sticky threads on the General discussion sub-board that discuss webhosting (both free and paid). Imo you get what you pay for.

try yourself at www.gimyweb.de

everythings fine for coppermine, there are no ads, no traffic limit and you've got 5GB space for free

There is also a good community for support.

Please do only post webhost recommendations on the threads I refered to:

Benefits: one place to post changes (free webhosts often change their policy), more people will read your advice.

I've searched the forum this is the closest one in my sistuation, I get the same error message. I have the non free yahoo hosting. The part I'm having after I get my database create and run the install.php I get this.

"MySQL error was : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)"

I know it's something with mysql database but I can't figure out what. I did the moving over and the permissions on each folder and just can't figure out how to get past the 1st install process. Sorry I'm pretty new to this stuff, but trying to figure it out. Any help or leads to anything is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ask your webhost! Locking.
