When we click on the "EVENT PICS" Section of our website
http://www.platinumworld.ca/index-site.htm  (flash site)

we usually are redirected to the url:  http://www.platinumworld.ca/gallery
or http://www.platinumworld.ca/gallery/albums/index.htm

which draws from the gallery/index.php

however now we are getting the following msg when we click on the link on the site:

Fatal error :
There was an error while processing a database query

please help us get our photogallery up online asap bc our clientelle are waiting for their pics from this wknd halloween events

Joachim Müller

Enable debug_mode and post the actual error message (the query that fails). Do not post debug_output. Check the tutorials section to find out how to enable debug_mode if you can't access coppermine's config panel.
Not an install issue, moving.

jplatinu

sorry if i sound really silly here
but what do u mean "enable Debug mode"??

jplatinu

k so i did exactly that
and changed the 0 in debug mode to a 1
and saved and went back to previous screen

whats the next step?
i appreciate ur patience w me on this

Joachim Müller

You're running cpg1.3.x, which goes unsupported. You shouldn't have posted on the cpg1.4.x support board. Moving accordingly. Upgrade!

jplatinu

k so i debugged
now what do i do?
also does this mean that all the pics and everything we have up so far is now lost??
how would i go about upgrading?  and how would this effect the gallery??

Sami

No you didn't lost anything Yet (your 1.3.x version has security issues)
Do as suggested and upgrade to most recent veresion (currently 1.4.10)
after upgrading if problem did exist we can go for it ;)
‍I don't answer to PM with support question
Please post your issue to related board

jplatinu

k then i will do the upgrade
do u have another one of those tutorials on how to upgrade tot he newest version??

k updated the gallery to the new cpg 1.4.9
with the image magick etc

gallery still not working

Nibbler

You need to update your gallery, you have not done this. You need to enable debug mode in order to see the real error message.

Joachim Müller

As Nibbler suggested: you haven't upgraded http://www.platinumworld.ca/gallery/ as suggested, it is still running cpg1.3.x

jplatinu

i have forwarded ur msg to them and will b in touch w their response asap

Don't expect your webhost to upgrade for you. If you want the job to be done, do it yourself - your webhost has proven already that they don't understand Coppermine well enough to properly do the upgrade. In fact it doesn't matter who ignores the documentation: you or your webhost ::).
