where can I find a tutorial on how to modify a theme?
what I have found so far is next to nothing and very unclear to me.
I need to know what I need to modify and what everything is  ???

If you find the stickies at the top of this board to be lacking then you will need to use the search feature and read what others have done to modify their themes. When I started with Coppermine, I downloaded a couple of additional themes and looked at the code to determine what did what. There are many ways to modify a theme which could be the reason why there isn't a more comprehensive manual on theme modification. If you want to add or remove features or functions and you can't find the appropriate code in your theme.php file, copy it from the sample theme.php and paste it into yours. Then you can modify it to suit your needs. If you have specific questions or problems then post them with a descriptive title.
Did you read the manual first???? Taking 2 minutes to backup your files can save you hours of wondering what you screwed up.

ok, thanks..one more question.. for now  ;D when I modify a template or the css I cannot see what I am doing until I upload the file to my server... is this how it works? I use dreamweaver .

Also, do all the templates here work on any gallery?? even the ones on worldpress ? cuz yesterday i uploaded one . it would show on the themes menu but when I chose it, it would show only the default theme, maybe it was only a worldpress.
My gallery is not worldpress.

1) We have a strict "one question per thread" policy - please respect it in the future.
2) Wordpress is not a gallery app, but a Blog
3) All themes we provide on our downloads page can be used with the corresponding version of coppermine, no matter if you have Wordpress or not.
4) Don't use a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver to edit Coppermine files unless you really, really know what you're doing (and judging from the fact that you're asking this, you're not fully aware what you're doing). You can temporarily copy template.html into your coppermine root to see the changes immediately. You'll have to remove this copy of template.html after you have finished your design stage.
