I need to migrate Coppermine 1.3.3 and its associated albums and files to a new host (linux, apache, php 5.0, MySQL 4.1) where I would like to run Coppermine 1.4.10.  I have carefully reviewed the upgrade docs, but I need advice on the move.  Should I try to get the old Coppermine 1.3.3 working on the new host prior to the upgrade, or should I just move the database and directories and overlay the new 1.4.10 files (with exceptions noted in the documentation) and run the update.php script?  It would seem that it might be problematic getting 1.3.3 running if I judge correctly from the 1.3.x forums.  But on the other hand, the upgrade instructions seem to assume that all the references and configuration is being done on a working system (one in which the install was done in the first place).   My limited reading (and understanding) of the update script seems to indicate that all the correct references will be updated, but I am not sure.  Any advice you have would be appreciated.

Upgrade and then move. 1.3 is no longer supported.

Upgrading and then moving hosts is not an option for me.  I do not have access to the 1.3.3 system, just the files.  That was the reason for my inquiry to begin with.  I understand that the instructions for upgrading assume you are performing it on the same system.  Unfortunately, I have to move the files and then upgrade.  That is why I need the advice.

I see. Then moving and then updating is fine (both steps following instructions in the docs). Don't waste too much time trying to get 1.3.3 running on the new server, it doesn't really like php5. Once you have updated to 1.4 we can help you with any issues you have.

Thanks.  I will try to move the files and then run the upgrade and see how it goes.
