Bridging: Confused?

I've read the documentation, and I've read the posts here, my brain is hurting from all the questions, and answers, and then some... because none truly seem to me to answer the question I have in mind correctly, or succinctly enough for my taste.

I am going to be creating a new forum, I have an old coppermine server, (well a few years old) and I have no users in my phpbb forum... Is there a way to transfer all of the coppermine users name and passwords to the phpbb forum, and in turn import have both servers work together seamlessly or not?

Or is it possible at all to do what I'm asking? A Yes or a No with an explanation of why would be great.  Thanks.

Yes but you have to do the work to migrate the users.

That won't be an issue, so I migrate the coppermine users over to the phpbb end, and then from there bridge?
