Hello,

I'm about to install Coppermine but need to check certain issues first.

I'm planning to create a gallery which contains multiple albums / categories with multiple pictures in it.

1. Access:
the gallery is public, everybody can view the albums and pictures, but uploading and commenting is restricted to administrators only. So I only want to show the albums and pictures to public, without displaying the menubars which contain "register", "FAQ,  " Login" and  "Forum"; => hiding the menubars for public. Is that possible and easy to modify for a newbie?

2. But.... in the above mentioned situation how and where can the site-adminstrator upload albums, pictures, etc.?

Summary:
The gallery must be full-functional with CMS for site-administrators and only viewable for visitors.

Deliver Coppermine these features or is it wiser to use another 'easy-to-setup and to modify' gallery-creator? If so, which one do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

All of this is possible and comparatively easy to achieve. Not sure what you mean by saying

Coppermine is not a CMS, but "only" a gallery.

But you need a CMS or something like that to upload, edit albums, pictures, vids, etc. isn't it? [Compare it with Gallery2].

At least it must have the functionality that the site-manager can create albums and uploads, edit pictures, etc. I wonder if Coppermine is the appropriate gallery-creator for my needs.

the best way for you is to try coppermine (on your local install) or dowload coppermine live-demo http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=34418.0

A content management system (aka CMS) is something different. Coppermine is "just" a web gallery that provides an interface to upload and maintain your pics.
If you want to name it that way, Coppermine is sort of a CMS - if your refer to your pics as content. But actual CMS are systems like Typo3, Joomla, Mambo, Drupal or one of the various Nuke clones.
Trust me: Coppermine is the application that can do what you need. Just try it.

RSR

THank you for your explanation.
I will try it.

I'm totally new with Coppermine and issues like interfaces and CMS. Yes, you call it interface and I call it CMS; that's why the misunderstanding.

I.e. have tried to customize and embed Gallery2 in phpbb, Joomla, etc. to my specific needs but its hard to crack; that's why I' m looking for a gallery-creator that is versatile and easy to customize and embed (phpbb, Joomla, etc.) for newbies like me.  ;D

Can't tell you how easy or hard it will be to embedd coppermine into Joomla or similar - we provide support for the standalone app "Coppermine". I have no idea how to integrate it visually into other apps.
