Hi, i'm trying to replace gallery v2, with something that is more like Fotki (www.fotki.com). Why i don't like gallery you may ask? Gallery is very powerful, but to harvest the power, you have to do too much tweaking (for me at least).

My needs are because i want to provide on my DreamHost account, to my friends/family, separate albums for each one.

What i'm looking is:

1) Simple UI/Simple to use for final users (like Fotki).
2) Should support multiple users on the same site (like Fotki)*
3) Should allow password protected albums.
4) Batch uploads (either FTP, web interface, client, etc)
5) Exiff
6) Nice to have: www.site.com/USER support

* On gallery, i simulate that by creating N albums, family1, family2, etc, for each family.

Does THIS solution supports all this?

I must say that i haven't read all the documentation about this solution, and for that i'm sorry, but i'm looking right now at 10 solutions, so i just wanted to do a quick check on each one, so if it supports all 4, i would start the real evaluation.

Thanks. Kwanbis.

PS: by the way, i thought i should have posted in General, but it won't allow me to post there.
PS2: in the case of coppermine, what i have seen so far, it looks too much like a forum, is always like that?

ok, i re-wrote the post, but this forum won't allow me to modify it, so here it goes the cahgnes

1) Simple UI/Simple to use for final users (users that browse the gallery, and the ones that upload pictures) (like Fotki).
2) Should support multiple users on the same site (like Fotki) (OR Support albums/subalbums so i can assign an album to each family, and they can create then their subalbums)
6) "Upload users" (users that can only upload/manage their albums).

This is the support  board. We support people who have actual issues running Coppermine or setting it up in the first place. You are looking for a review of many features. This is not what this board is meant for. Review the documentation and the demo to find out what can be done using coppermine and what ca not be done.
We have a strict "one question per thread" policy that you agreed to respect. That's why your questions will not be answered in detail in this thread, as you posted several at once.

Here are some short answers

We don't know fotki. If it is good, why don't you use it instead of what you are currently using?

Simplicity is a matter of taste and skill. For me, the UI is pretty basic. For others, it might be too complicated.

Coppermine supports multiple uers.
Quote from: kwanbis on May 12, 2007, 10:53:55 PMShould allow password protected albums.
Feature exists.
Quote from: kwanbis on May 12, 2007, 10:53:55 PMBatch uploads (either FTP, web interface, client, etc)
Multiple upload mechanisms exist, covered in the documentation.
Quote from: kwanbis on May 12, 2007, 10:53:55 PM5) Exiff
Exif support exists.

Not out of the box, but I think that there may be a hack that adds this feature.

Board rules say that is mandatory to have read the docs before being allowed to start new threads.

Correct. We don't want you to post there.

Not sure what you mean. Check the demo, using the theme dropdowns at the top of the page. If this looks to much like a forum for you, then maybe Coppermine is not the right software for you.

Expected behaviour, we don't want postings to get crippled or edited out, that's why you don't have edit privileges here.

Coppermine doesn't support sub-abums. Non-admins can only create albums within their own user gallery, but not within the admin-defined category structure.

Sure does. All gallery apps that I'm aware of can do this.
