Custom Menu Link URL issues

In the config/theme menu you can add another link into the menu.  Iv'e done this without issue before but on my latest install I have tried this but the URL that is created is incorrect.
http://www.adamanddanielle.net/galleryis the main coppermine location and the link I want is to go back to the root site http://www.adamanddanielle.net(its the link titled "Our Homepage").  When I put the root site address into the box for "custom menu link URL", and then save and exit the config menu, the link tries to take me to http://www.adamanddanielle.net/gallery/adamanddanielle.net. 
I dont know why it adds the first part of that link.  I searched the forum and didnt find anything and I dont know how to manually edit the link.
Any help would be great, thanks in advance.
