Hi

I have a ghost-y intermittent login issue with IE7. User enters username and password, clicks the button, gets a welcome message, but then there is no access to the "logged-in user" menu options like upload or album configuration.

I've cleared cache, cookies, I've re-uploaded the installation, but the problem persists. It does seem to resolve itself temporarily, but it always returns.

In firefox, this problem never seems to occur.

I would appreciate any help with this.

You have set your cookie path to http://www.2ndlook.org/ which is invalid. Don't change settings you don't understand. Change it back to '/' in the admin panel or phpmyadmin if you are unable to login.

Hi Nibbler,

Thanks for looking into this. I will reset the cookie path. But I made that change only an hour ago, and I have had this problem for months. So the problem occurs and persists even with the cookie path set "/"

Tried both with FF2 as well as IE6. Login sticks fine in both browsers. Make sure that your IE is set to accept your cookies. Make sure that there is no third-party-app (notorious "Norton Internet Security" comes to mind) that is interfering with your cookies.

Hi GauGau,

I appreciate your taking the time to look into this.

FF2 is absolutely golden as far as this problem is concerned. It works every single time (*hugs Firefox*). IE6, which I don't have, I suspect does not trigger this effect either. The culprit is IE7. If this were a personal site, I'd shrug it off, start up Firefox and keep on trucking. But its a community site, and I'm concerned about users who in all innocence use the latest and greatest IE browser, come to my site, signup, and can't ever login in again...(mostly cause they will try once or twice and then never try again)

Like I said, it's ghost-y. Over the last month or so, I've seen it come and go. I don't doubt that the problem is a complex interaction between IE7, the user's computer environment, and coppermine.

I was just hoping that there might be some trick, some setting in coppermine, that would make IE7 behave.

Regarding your recommendations...IE7 is set to accept cookies from that site. I do run Windows Live Care as a security program. But it seems like a solution that is worse than the disease to suggest that users have to turn off their security programs to get my site to work properly. Besides my security program is not interfering with the logins of any other sites I visit.

Thanks again for your time and suggestions.

I just checked using IE7: login sticks fine as well (with default cookie settings in place). Subsequently, your pseudo-security app probably is to blame.
