When I run the update.php script, everything seems to go well.  Everything either says 'already done' or 'OK'.  But when I check for file versions it remains 1.4.10 and there are 123 red and 118 yellow.  Not sure what is happening here.

Please be gentle, I'm new to this.

Yes.  I uploaded all the 1.4.13 files and directories other than the Albums directory, the anycontent.php and the config.inc.php.

have you uploaded the new files (FTP)?

You have not uploaded all the new files. You need to upload the contents of subdirectories also.

Sorry, I didn't want to share my pictures with the world.

I thought I had.  I've now gone into each directory and sent them manually.  I then did the update again.  But I'm still having the same problem.  Is there something else I need to do?

Well, at least the version is showing 1.4.13, but nearly everything on the version check page is showing red or yellow.  It says 123 mandatory files and 125 optional files missing.  I probably don't care about the optional ones, but do I need to do something about the mandatory ones?

Try checking the 'coppermine is installed in the webroot' option at the top of the versioncheck page, and the 'apply changes / refresh'. This made the page's reporting accurate. I am assuming this changes linking within the script from relative to absolute, or something like that. Hope this helps.
