I'm sure many people have seen in photo galleries, that there is a little 'new' text beside newly added images. Would you take this in consideration for a new plugin? And what do you think of this idea?

Has been requested before, so your request is not new. The database would have to keep track of the pics that each user has already seen, which would put a huge load on the database and would slow down huge galleries enourmously. I don't think that this will go into the core.
