Is it possible to re-organise the images in an album i.e. I may want to move picture 7 to picture 1 slot and picture 2 to picture 8 etc.

there are no slots are anything similar within an album. You can set the default sort order in coppermine config, which will be overridden if a users chooses a custom sorting order.

There have been requests in the past to allow customizable order of pics within an album, but afaik this hasn't actually been coded.

When I'm in the display image page it shows picture 3/10 (for instance) above the image. I want to order these so it flows through a particular route. Is there no way of doing this?

like I said: there's an option in coppermine config that sets up the order for the whole gallery. Apart from that, there's no solution "out-of-the-box". There's a mod though that allows custom sorting - search the mod board for it.

One thing you could do, is to add a prefix to the title of each pic.  Say you had 20 pics in an album, just click on edit pics, and change 'title1', to '01-title1', etc.
You would then set in config, the default sortorder to 'title, ascending'.

Of course, if you have hundreds of pics, this will be a heck of a task.

Any idea if/when this ability will be included?  It is this inability and the apparent inability to caption that is keeping me from moving my galleries from menalto to coppermine.  That's a shame too--because coppermine has a much nicer presentation.  I just can't do without the ability to order pictures and my pictures tell an ordered story--example:

Thanks for giving this consideration!  Coppermine is so robust and feature rich I am really surprised captions and re-ordering are not included as they seem like a basic needs amongst gallery owners.

Otherwise--thanks for a great gallery program!

Hmmm... The ability to add captions and descriptions to pictures and albums is there since version 1.0  - you are missing something
Custom / Advanced sorting is not there....

As far as I can see there is "comments" but no caption.  Maybe I am missing it--or maybe we are not using the terms the same way.

To me, a caption is a comment that the admin or owner posts with the picture, like "This is me just before I got eaten by the whale--note how calm I am".  A comment is posted by other users, like "Knarly picture, dude".

What's the difference?  Well, I may want to caption my pictures but not allow comments from transient users.  Menalto differentiates between caption and comment.

Here's an example---(sorry I cannot refer you to my site because I don't accept comments)

http://gallery.menalto.com/modules.php?set_albumName=sample_special&id=abs&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php

Note the caption is: RailImages.com go

What / Where is the confusion for you?

Well, maybe it comes down to ignorance, but although I can see how to comment a picture I'll be ..... if I can see how to caption it.  True enough, the link you directed me to shows both a caption and a comment--I just do not see where it is I can enter a caption.

Tarique Sani

When you are uploading you have boxes for entering that info,  if you miss out on that you can enter it by following the Edit pictures link from the index.php, IF you can't find that then there is a link just below the picture on displayimage.php

Of Course you need to be logged in and in Admin Mode to do that

I must be blind.  I don't see either of those links.  Is there something in config I have to turn on to allow it?

Casper

If you are uploading by ftp and then batch adding, you do not see this then, but if you are uploading by the upload link you do.

The edit pics button, is there, along with a 'delete' button, and a 'properties' button, next to the album thumbnail, providing you are logged on as admin, and in admin mode.

Normal users also have these buttons next to their own personal albums, also when they are in admin mode.

Click on the 'edit pics' button, and you can do what you like to all pics in that album, move to other albums, add titles and descriptions, delete comments etc.
