I don't know what I'm missing.  I can't figure out how to make my albums private, so other users cannot see them.  There is no option in the Album Creation to make the album private.  Anything uploaded seems to pop up in the Random Files or Latest Additions boxes...

Can anyone shed some light on this?

The site is here:

It's in album properties. If you don't have that option then you probably disabled it in config.

where can i find album properties?

this:

Albums can be private (Note: if you switch from 'yes' to 'no' any current private albums will become public)

is selected as Yes.

The "album properties" button can be found on the index page next to each thumbnail that represents the album. See http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#album_prop
Thread is not related to uploads, but permissions - moving accordingly.

and there it is.  got it.  sorry for being a pain.

thanks again!

Alright, I thought I had it, but I guess not.

Yes, I see the album properties button... but only when in Admin mode.  It's gone when I go to user mode.

I'd like users to be able to make their own albums private also.

My last thread was marked as solved, so I expect nobody plans on looking at it again.

I have searched both the forums and the documentation.

I'd like a normal registered user to have the ability to create his or her own private album.  Or, to have the very first album they create be private by default, without an admin having to change the album to private every time someone wants to create one.

Is this at all possible?

Thank you,
Joey

Yes. Search the forum for instructions.

I realize searching the forums probably seems easy and intuitive to those that have been visiting them forever, but it's not quite so to those that have not.  I just spent an hour scouring both the forums and the documentation.  Maybe I'm using the wrong search strings, I do not know.  I've tried many of the things that look like they might be related to my question, but always come up short.

If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be super.

Thanks,
Joey

Ah, well, again my apologies.  I figured it out myself.

It seems testing things in User Mode is completely different from testing things using a non-admin test user.  Within User Mode there are no options to make your albums private, I assume because the developers are guessing the administrator will just make those changes while in Admin Mode.

As a regular non-admin user I was able to make the necessary changes to my albums.

I would suggest that the admin version of User Mode be made so it's more like a regular registered users features.  I suspect I'm not the only one trying to test while just going into User Mode.  Maybe it would cut down on other people here posting unnecessary questions.  Especially considering I was unable to find any of this information in either your documentation or searching the support forums themselves.

Thanks again,
Joey

Never leave admin mode. User mode is not meant to show you what non-admins can do. Read up the docs what the admin mode / user mode toggle is meant to be used for.

Merging the extra thread with the original one.

I will do that, thank you.
