Hallo,
Up to now, I used porta and simple viewer or picsengine2 for my galleries. Quite simple and nice look
with 4x4 thumbnails on the left and 1024x768 or 800x600 image on the right, all fitting a standard 1280x1024 screen.
I needed to switch to coppermine for following reasons :
- need to use passwords on several galeries
- with porta, you create a album of 200 pictures and upload it. If you want to add one picture, you regenerate the album and send 201 pictures.
I have just installed coppermine on my ovh account and it is quite powerful and easy to use.
However, all my friends say : "how awful look !" "it looks like google !"
I have browsed your themes and they are all same look even if color saturations change.

On my screen, with all menus on top (I don't use them !), I only see the picture, sometimes truncated (I however use 640x480 instead of 800x600 or 1024x600 in simple viewer !), the filmstrip is below and I always need to scroll bar to see the thumbs

So, could you please add a "simple viewer" theme with black background, 4x4 thumbs on left and picture on right ?

I am not skilled in html to do it

Thanks for help

Best regards
Marc

Just a comment.
I have just found in configuration that we can remove "random,2", "lastup,2" and use 100 for category thumbs
What a difference and moreover it is also applied in each album ! It was so messy on the screen, now very clean.
Removing all unneeded buttons and logos would be nice too.

Question about 4x4 thumbs on left is of course still valid

Definitely not standard yet.

It is easy to use. We need you to read the documentation though before you're allowed to post questions. You appear not to have read it yet. Do so now. Keep in mind as well that we have a strict "one question per thread" policy that you agreed to respect when signing up.

It's sad that you didn't find at least one theme that matches your taste (although there are 150+ themes that you could choose from). You're welcome to create a theme of your own as suggested in the corresponding section of the docs.

There are loads of postings that explain how to get rid of menu items that you don't need, especially the plugin "Final_Extract v.2.3 with usergroup ettings by admin panel".

You can easily specify the number of thumbnail rows and columns in coppermine's config.

No HTML skills needed to read the docs and set the corresponding config options.

Hallo,
Many thanks for this fast reply.
You mentioned 150 themes. In my post, I dealt with the only few ones available : classic, fruity,hardwire,eyeball,...
Where are 150 other themes hidden ?
Is there a theme with 4x4 thumbs on left and picture directly (not need to click on it to display at its size) at 600x600 (defined in config) size on right ?

Best regards

Read the docs? Obviously not. If you would have read Themes that come with Coppermine you would have figured out that those themes come with coppermine out-of-the-box.

Read User-contributed themes. Themes can be previewed on the demo (link at top of this screen) and downloaded in the downloads section (link again at top of this screen).

I already told you that this is not a matter of theming, but a matter of setup - take a look at coppermine's config panel. Read up the corresponding documentation sections if you have no idea what the config options are for.

I already told you as well that you need to read the docs before being allowed to post questions. Please do so now!!! Don't expect to be spoon-fed - we're not ready to quote the corresponding documentation sections just because you're not ready to read them.

Don't be so angry, doc is not so easy to understand when we discover the coppermine environment for the first time.
The more I experiment menus, config,... the more I understand the doc.
For any soft, spool-fed at beginning is usual !

I have found coppermine demo and user themes and was happy to see that one of the user themes has a different structure for thumbs
like the one I am looking for :classic filmstrip vert.
I have uploaded and it works fine.
Just one detail I don't like :
- I have a category "animals and insects" on main screen.
- I click on this and a new page apperas with the two albums "animals", "insects"
- I click on "animals" album and all the thumbs appear on third screen and I must click on one of the thumbs
to have the filmstrip on left and picture on right on a fourth screen.
I'd like to remove the third screen and, when I click on "animals" album, force coppermine to directly display the filmstrip vert aspect ?

Is it possible ?

Best regards
Marc
