1. How do I get the admin account and password?

2. I have just uploaded the entire standalone for my website.  but when I click the "exec" button for the install.php, the prompt me to associate the file.  wat do i do?

Joachim Müller

erm, you were doing what? Please read the documentation that comes with coppermine (inside the docs folder) carefully - observe the minimum requirements.
Did you try to run install.php and your local pc? You will need to upload it to your webserver and run the url in the address bar of your browser (something like http://yoursite.tld/coppermine/install.php). If you don't see a proper install page, but see gibbersih code of are prompted to download a file, you don't have php on your webserver (see minimum reuirements again).

P.S. Don't hijack other's threads - you originally posted a reply to a not-related thread. I split your posting to become a separate thread.

Thanks for your reply... :)

I know my server fulfills the requirements becos there are others who also use coppermine... How do I do the CHMOD thingy via WS-FTP?  I must do this CHMOD thingy before I run the install.php right?

Sorry about the hijacking but I thought it was related... and where do I get the Admin Account & Password?

Joachim Müller

Take a look at the documentation that comes with coppermine - there's a link to some CHMOD tutorials as well; especially for WS-FTP you can go to http://www.webmasterinabox.net/kb/chmod.html

In coppermine install screen, you are asked to make up an admin username and password (create a new account in coppermine that will be your admin account). You will have to specify the mySQL connection data however with mySQL hostname, username and password. You can't make up those - you'll have to ask your webhost for them. The fact that others run coppermine on the same server doesn't have to mean you can have it as well - they may have a mySQL database of their own...
