Hi everyone,

Sorry if the answer already exits, but I didn't found it. So I come here to ask my question...

In my gallery, I'd like to pput videos made by another person. She gave me the videos in .wmv format. They install normally in the gallery, but the problem is they are too heavy, too large, and even on my fast internet connection, it takes a long time to see it and it lags. So I went through a re-encoding process to diminish their size, their resolution. And then I upload the hew files. I use the ftp method. I choose my ftp directory, then I see the files list on that directory. Then comes the screen where I'm supposed to check the items I want to upload. And here my new items cannot be checked. On the far right, each one has an icon "404 -  can't read that file". I tried many different encodings of the videos, different formats, it^s always the same. I checked the files names, they have no special caracters, no spaces, nothing...

Please help me...  :'(

Then read it once more and do as suggested there. There's a reason why I posted that link.

OK, I've seen what you wanted, but it was far above your link... No problem... So I tried uploading by http method as said with error messages appearing :

OK, I've seen what you wanted, but it was far above your link... No problem... So I tried uploading by http method as said with error messages appearing :
In fact you did quite the opposite of what you're supposed to do. Let me quote the part of the documentation that I want you to read:
QuoteAsking for support on upload issues

When asking for support on the coppermine forum, post a link to your site and a test user account (the test user mustn't be in the admin group!) with upload privileges, with the above mentioned settings in place - this way, supporters can see the error messages as well. Do not post debug_output unless requested. If you want fast results, you should disable admin approval for the group the test user is in, so supporters can tell instantly what is wrong without needing to double-check.

When people have issues with uploading and decide to post their question on the Coppermine support board, they usually are told to read this upload troubleshooting section. Many of them fail to do so properly, which results in frustration both for users as well as supporters. To make this absolutely clear: the above mentioned steps are absolutely mandatory, no matter what skill level you have, no matter what upload method you have troubles with. Failing to do exactly as suggested will result in your request for help being ignored. Yes, this applies to you. We mean it!
You failed to post the link to your gallery. You failed to post the non-admin test user account. You posted debug_output although the text says that you mustn't.
Additionally to what you're supposed to do, post a deep link to one of the files that you're trying to batch-add that gives you issues. And do not molest me nor another supporter by PM: you're suppossed to post publicly instead of PMing supporters.

You're causing way too much effort by refusing to read this little section of the docs that I told you to read. We're not ready to support you if you don't play by the rules. >:(

tchernopuss

OK, in fact I didn't put the link with a user publicly because I prefer the content of the gallery not to be too much public.

Joachim Müller

Then you can't have support from our side. This is our forum, you need to play by our rules if you want free support. Since you're not ready to do that I'm tagging this thread as "closed".
Security by obscurity is a silly concept though. Privacy by obscurity as well if you ask me.
