I have problem that the plugin manager does not shown the plugin that I uploaded.
The first method uploading the zip file does not work for me and I resorted to do it manually.   I've confirmed the the plugin has exactly the same structures when I uploaded it to the plugin directory and all the access rights are the same as the sample.   However, I still cannot see the plugins in the configuration plugin manager.  Only the sample is shown!
What could be wrong.. Please help.

You failed to post what plugins are supposed to be there.
Please do as I already suggested and tell us what plugins should in your opinion be there.

My apology.  The plugins that I tried to install but failed are rcmenu and photo_shop.

I checked with my hosting company and it has the following streams "compress.bzip2, compress.zlib" as shown in the phpinfo.php.   However, uploading the zip directly does not work with error and manual upload resulting with No plugins shown in the plugin manager.

Both http://studio.fusionliquid.com/plugins/rcmenu/ as well as http://studio.fusionliquid.com/plugins/photo_shop/ return a "404 not found" error although they should at least result in a "403 forbidden", so the folders and files are not there. Subsequently, the plugin manager doesn't display them. The reason probably is that you have failed to set permissions for the plugins folder (http://studio.fusionliquid.com/plugins/) as per docs (it needs to be writable for the script if you try to http-upload and unzip the plugins using the plugin manager's interface.)
As suggested in the docs as well you should alternatively try to upload the un-archived plugins to the plugins folder using your favorite FTP app.
Please read the docs carefully, especially the section about the usage of the plugin manager and from that section particularly the one that is named "uploading a plugin". Pay attention to the both methods explained there.

Thanks.  Due to the subdomain structure in my hosting, I was confused, but I had the plugins (Rcmenu photo_shop) installed and perhaps working for a while.   However, after installing the captcha, I got locked out from the login screen as the confirm captcha image does not get shown.  I put this problem in a separate thread and hope someone could help to resolve this problem.
