I noticed that when I upload video image thumbnails to album directories, I get errors whenever I have thumb filename that has spaces in it. I'll have to pullup specific error, but I'm guessing you guys already know about this.

spaces in filenames can cause problems under certain circumstances, that's why we added the spaces to forbidden chars as default. You can change this behaviour in coppermine config for you (although not recommended). On the www, you should (generally speaking) avoid any special chars (including spaces) and use only alpha numerical ones, plus the minus and underscore, as they're known "trouble-makers".

lol,

I just am finished uploading and batching about 3000 images. 98% uploaded in directories with spaces. Now I see, that the thumbnails are not working on my viewthumbblock. It's cutting the directory after the space. Is there a quick way to rename the dirs AND keep the links of the database intact? I guess not huh? :(

the folder names can be changed with ftp only. If you know your way around in phpMyAdmin, you can easily run a query to replace all spaces in folder names. I suggest you post a deep link to a page that doesn't display correctly.

Hey GG,

Oddity #1:

I'm testing out a new installation, and I tried to upload a file with a space in it.  The system (1.3.2) accepted it without complaint, which was unexpected.  I thought I would get an error.

Oddity #2:

So I checked the "forbidden characters" setting in the config screen, and a space doesn't seem to be listed.  Thinking I might have screwed something up, I added a space at the beginning of the list of forbidden characters.  This completely screwed up all uploads.  Backing it out fixed the problem, but I used FTP to look at some of the albums, and it looks like some of the processing took place.

So....

Is there a "best method" to clea out orphan photos, or otherwise re-check the album directory structure for integrity?

Is the system's behavior with regards to spaces to allow it in filenames now?

Thanks!  Love CPG!

This is a bump, since there's been no response...

I've withdrawn from activity on the support board. Some other dev care to reply?
