I have move from one service provider to a new one and I used to have my coppermine running on version 2.8.0.1 and now I have the latest version running on the new service provider. My question is, how do I import my data to the new server/version?
Any help would be appreciated.

2.8.0.1?  I've never heard of it.  Are yo sure you've given the correct info?

Either way there's no way to upgrade directly from a version older than 1.4.x to the latest 1.5.12  You have to upgrade in steps until you reach 1.4.x then upgrade to the latest.  If that makes sense.

Running SMF 2.1.4  / Tinyportal 3.0.1, bridged with Coppermine 1.6.25, plus cpmfetch 2.0.0

I apologize. This is the version number I got from dump/backup file which I believe is for the SQL server. The version I was running on the old server was version 148.
I went ahead and installed version 140 on the new server. After that I upgraded to version 1.5.12 but the table versions under PHPMYADMIN still show CPG140? Shouldn't the tables show CPG151?

When I open the dump/backup file it shows CREATE TABLE `cpg148_albums` Should I change the cpg_148_albums to cpg140_albums?

Thanks for your help.

No. Updating is not supposed to rename the tables.

Thanks for the information. So, how do I copy the data from the old server to the new server?
Do I just copy the folders/files into the existing folders?
