total newbie to CPG & i know nothing, nothing.

Coppermine version: 1.5.34 was working fine up until a month ago.
all functions worked & no problems admin gallery.
then went to login for admin work & login screen showed
what i call a system crash screen: [image attached]

so solution must lie thru fixing code in some config file.
have no clue, and thought reading all install doc's would
not result in solution.

i appreciate your support.

what a day to post CPG prob's!!! Happy 2016 Year!

Do you still need help or where you able to login after 30 minutes?

markblewis32177

Yes, still need HELP.

No, not able to login 30 minutes later, or ever.

Please post a link to your gallery. In the meantime, try to flush the ban table in the MySQL database with a tool like phpMyAdmin.

markblewis32177

gallery link: http://www.gainesvillehog.org/photos/index.php

not sure what a "ban table" is, but assuming if i get into MySQL it will be obvious. would be looking for database table in gallery MySQL tagged "ban."

marklewis

markblewis32177

just as i thought, "ban" table was clearly obvious.

cpg_banned has been Empty>TRUNCATE cpg_banned>OK, which i figure means "flush."

however, not change accessing app. still have Error screen .

phill104

could you try an alternative browser and see if you are getting the same error
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

markblewis32177

my standard browser is Chrome.
that's browser i've been using to report these problems.

just loaded Firefox & result same: Database Error screen & app not accepting administrator login.

also, used IE 11 to access photo page. same result as Chrome & Firefox: Database Error screen & app not accepting administrator login.

what do you see when you access gainesvillehog.org/photos?

gmc

I get the database error message, but indicates gallery is offline (rather than ban message)
Thanks!

It is possible that your host changed the default version of PHP to one that is not compatible with your current version of Coppermine Photo Gallery.

It is possible that your host changed the default version of PHP to one that is not compatible with your current version of Coppermine Photo Gallery.

Possible, what version is it?  Looking at the source code, at the top it says,

SVN version info:
  Coppermine version: 1.4.25

And at the bottom it says, <!--Coppermine Photo Gallery 1.5.34 (stable)-->
Running SMF 2.1.4  / Tinyportal 3.0.1, bridged with Coppermine 1.6.25, plus cpmfetch 2.0.0

markblewis32177

from hosting Versions:
   PHP   5.2.17,
   MySQL 5.5.42,
   running on Apache 2.2.31

don't know how to determine CPG version.
oh, already know it's CPG 1.4.25

looks pretty old.
need to upgrade to CPG 1.5.34 & see what happens?

thanx for all sleuthing.

marklewis

markblewis32177

Download link indicates 1.5.40 as available version.
is this stable for release to a newbie f/upgrade?

gmc

1.5.40 is the recommended upgrade...
If you are running 1.4.x, it will certainly have issues with PHP V5.

I see signs of 1.5.34 - which you also mentioned in your first post. This should work fine with PHP V5.

I don't see any harm in upgrading, and will provide a known base.

Thanks!

So ... got bold with trying to get this cpg back online.
since upgrading seemed to be option, i thought why not run "upgrade" on current version 1.5.34?
in browser went to cpg folder & replaced index.php with install.php. mssg return that install had been run & locked. to run again, need to delete a file.
using ftp app, deleted specified file, then went back to cpg folder & ran install.php.
using classic cpg installation, filled in textboxes, then clicked Next, or whatever, and mssg returned [see attached]. this is only topof mssg dialog, install portion not shown for security purposes.

original install had table prefix cpg_
to avoid creating another cpg install, used same prefix cpg_ & error mssg appeared.
now browser cpg link takes to installation routine.

suggestions?

gmc

I'd suggest following the 'upgrade' instructions - which do not include replacing index.php with install.php, running install.php or deleting lock files...
Since you replaced index.php with install.php - I'd expect your cpg link would now take you into installer.

See instructions at http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upgrading.htm#upgrade_any
If this is the first time running a 1.5.x upgrade - see the sections about upgrading from 1.4.x as well...
(just a little bit down from the upgrade steps or at http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upgrading.htm#upgrade_14

Thanks!
