Hi,

My gallery has been down a while and I have no idea why. I decided to tackle an update to hopefully get it working, and it seemed to go okay. I didn't see any errors when running the update. I went to the gallery main page and at first it displayed, but I tried to go to another page and just got "Fatal error :". Now the main page doesn't display at all and it also says "Fatal error :".

I tried re-updating a few times and still see no errors, but no go.

I am at http://roswelloracle.com/coppermine/index.php

I am just barely technical enough to get this up and running. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You will probably be able to turn on error reporting in your cPanel. Turn that on and you should get a more informative error message
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I am sorry, but I have no idea where that might be or how to turn it on.

You could place the file manager script that is attached here (as filemanager.php) in the root of your gallery. That file will allow only me to browse your site. I will be able to view your database and files and, if needed, make modifications.

oracle271

I think it is in the right place.

ron4mac

Yes, you placed it where I suggested. Unfortunately it is not working from there. Could you move it up from the coppermine folder to your site root? If it doesn't function there for me, it may not be compatible with your server configuration and we'll have to find a different method.

Same issue with the file manager. I've attached a modified version that could get around the issue.
(I'm also wondering if what is causing issue with the file manager is also causing issue with CPG).

Or if you would want to PM me with credentials for your hosting (Verizon/Yahoo?), that could be most useful.

It took getting past some challenges presented by your host because of the lack of versatility in what they provide for site management, but the final issue was that a table in your database needed to be repaired.

Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!
My visitors have been asking for it to be repaired, so thanks so much from them and me!

Your host is stating that they will soon be upgrading your hosting account. When they do, it may break your CPG gallery. CPG 1.5.x will only run with PHP5. When they upgrade your hosting, it is likely that they will switch to PHP7 (or 8 ) as a default. The solution is to upgrade your gallery to CPG 1.6.x.  Because of the quite old version of PHP5 that is currently being used on your site, it could be slightly tricky to perform the upgrade. You should probably upgrade to an older version of CPG 1.6.x .. then switch to PHP7 using the settings in your host. After that, you can upgrade to the latest version of CPG 1.6.x.
