I have ftp(ed) the files in the album folder not the user folder.
Album floder is set to CHMOD at 755.
I can see the folders and the individual files on the Batch Add pages (left side of page)
I can not see the thumbnails (previews) on the right side of the Batch Add page, not will they add to the database.  All I see is a red "X".
I have read all the forum topics that I can search for under the topic "Batch Add".  Still no solution.
I have altered the php file to allow 32mb of resources in the php file in C:\windows\php.ini.
Coppermine was working fine yesterday but since my Apache server wasn't serving, I tried a "packaged" solution.
The web server is serving, mysql is running, and the php test page is loading.  I can find no errors.
I can't find anything that I am not doing or that I am doing wrong.  I have to put my little bit of pride aside and ask for help.
I am running WinXP, Apache2, MySQL 4, PHP 4.3

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is a copy->Paste of the debugging.

Have you CHMOD'd the albums and include directories (and all directories in albums) to 755 or 777?  Also make sure you have the edit directory in the albums directory.

Sometimes if you CHMOD the parent directory it doesn't automatically transfer to all the directories inside it.  You may have to do each directory individually.  You can also ask your host to set permissions for all the subdirectories if it doesn't seem to stick.

Thanks kegobeer...
I am hosting this server on my home computer, not at an ISP.  All the folders were CHMOD at 755 by default.  When I manually try to change them I get this reply:

COMMAND:> SITE CHMOD 755 (\dir)
500 Unknown command.

I read in a thread here that CHMOD was not as important on a Windows box, but I did it anyway.

I really don't know what I did differently with this install, if anything.  It (coppermine) worked flawlessly a few of days ago but the server didn't.  Now the coppermine isn't right.  I will keep digging...

kegobeer

Sorry, I completely missed the Windows stuff in your first post.  CHMOD isn't a valid command when running Apache under Windows.  You may have to set your folder permissions, especially for your \tmp folder (or whichever folder you've designated).

Have you uncommented the gd2 extension in your php.ini file?

I uncommented this file from my php.ini file in C:\windows

extension=php_gd2.dll

Still it will not work.

I thank you for your help...

kegobeer

Did you restart Apache after making changes to php.ini?

Also, what do you mean by a "packaged" solution?  Did you download a WAMP all-in-one server?  I have mixed feelings about them, most of the time they aren't set up exactly how you'd like.

I would be happy to come up with a guide on how I've set up my Windows/Apache/PHP/MySQL box - everything works great, and it's easy to upgrade and customize.

Did you also move php_gd2.dll into windows\system32 ?

You could try installing ImageMagick

kegobeer

Depending on how he configured extension_dir the gd extension may not need to be moved.  I prefer to keep everything outside of my windows directory, and even PHP has changed it's recommendations and now says to add PHP to the Windows PATH variable and leave all PHP files in the PHP directories.

I am using ImageMagik, therefore I probably don't need the gd2 file or the uncommented line, I guess.

I am using a suite of products from www.devsite.net.  They work well, except for the coppermine.  I am wondering if there is anything in coppermine that I need to change a program location in a config location somewhere?

The Apache webserver that I installed from Apache never would work well at all.  It was slow or non working most of the time.  It would "hang" lots of times.  I spent countless hours trying to fix it, to no avail.  So I tried a suite of products to see if that would help.

kegobeer

Since you're using ImageMagick, switch to GD2 in the config settings and see what happens.  It could be an ImageMagick issue (since ImageMagick can really be a pain to get working with Windows).

I think I will write up how I install everything - it could help some people who want to set up a server and keep having problems.  Under most conditions Apache runs better under Windows when installed separately than most all-in-one package configurations.

I may be wrong but I don't think it is an ImageMagik.  Is imagemagik required to view the thumbnails to do the batch add procedure?  I know it is for the convert (size) but just to view the pics in batch add I am unsure.

I do appreciate your help and if you have an Apache setup that works with a win box, that would be great.  I have used 2.0.x, 1.3.x and all have worked the same and none has worked at all (dependably that is).

I will continue to search for an answer to my problem...

kegobeer

You must have either GD or ImageMagick running correctly to use Coppermine.  They are used during the upload process to create the thumbnails and intermediate pictures.  If they aren't running correctly then you won't be able to use Coppermine.  That's why I suggested switching to GD2 - this way we can eliminate ImageMagick as the source of your problems.

Have you reviewed your server logs to see what errors are produced during the batch add process?

Apache error, the coppermine folder was remaned 'cpg'.

[Sat Sep 25 16:17:30 2004] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/www/webroot/cpg
The system cannot find the path specified.

I see no other error notifications.

Problem SOLVED!

I don't know what I did, but I just deleted and reinstalled coppermine and its sql database.  I really just started over.  After I renamed the coppermine in www\root to "coppermine" rather than "cpg" it worked.  I don't knwo how or why but strander things have happened before.

Thanks Mr. Keg and others... I will partake of a little beer now myself and I will hoist one up for you.

cryogenic

so I guess someone should mark this "solved" :)

kegobeer

Ahh, the power of server logs!   :D

You probably could've just renamed the folder back to coppermine instead of reinstalling, but good to hear your problem is solved!

Must be a windows thing because I have coppermine installed in /gallery and it works perfectly fine. I didn't think that the name of the directory in which it resides had any effect on things, so long as it's the same directory as when you ran /install.php.
