I have CMG, but I'm asking for a friend, who is interested in CMG, but wants to know if it's possible to integrate with the LDU system... Any help or feedback is much appreciated. Thanks! [ps: hope its the correct board] :)

Oh, sorry..

That's the home page, it's just a CMS like e107 or whatever. Sorry :)

A port for this CMS (yet another nuke clone I guess) hasn't been done afaik. The coppermine dev team  is not planning to port this for LDU nor any other app - the ports are usually done by people who actually use the application they want to integrate coppermine into.

I see Coppermine now works with e107. Anyone willing to do an LDU integration? I might even be able to pay a little something. Or is LDU just the red-headed step child of the CMS world? :D

The e107 module of coppermine is based on the 1.2.1 version, was done by someone on the e107 boards, and we have no knowledge of what they have done to it to make it work.
It has been a long time now since I did my little bit here, and have done no coding or any other such stuff since. I'm back to being a noob here

JavaJones

Be that as it may, it does show it's possible. So the question remains: is anyone interested in doing the same for LDU (preferably based on the most current public release)? I'd kill for it... ;D

The LDU license won't allow a port. Try using a proper GPLed CMS.

JavaJones

I don't see why LDU not being OS causes licensing issues for making a Coppermine version for LDU. And I'm not about to switch to another system, as it involves a great deal of hassle. I have a lot of existing content and a well running site. No need to mess that up switching CMS's.

Even better why not just a communications plugin of some kind. As far as I know the LDU system is pretty open to configuration and extension through plugins, so you might not even need to modify Coppermine or LDU installs at all, just create a communications plugin to work between the two. Not being a programmer I don't know if that's possible, but it seems worth investigating anyway.

The license disallows distribution of modified source code, so I could make a port just so long as I didn't give it to you. A bridge would be possible though I suppose if that's what you're asking.

JavaJones

Sure, that's what I'm asking if that would do what I want. ;) Would hiring someone to custom code something like this *for me* still violate the "cannot redistribute modified code" clause in your opinion?

Attached LDU bridge file, make sure you read the comments at the start of the file for setting up ldu.

Thanks very much Nibbler! Sorry I haven't replied sooner, the holidays have me busy. :D I haven't had time to test this yet (just saw it now), but it looks good. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again! And Happy Holidays. This is a great Christmas present. ;)
