Are you expecting your host, who would have the answer, to reply?

Nibbler gave the appropriate answer and directed you to the correct resource.

OK.... let me see if i can explain this clearly....as i am slightly RETARDED....

I know how to contact my host. I did so. they provided me with all the info i need ..... BUT the image Magick path..... they did not know what the hell i was talking about........ Is that clear enough...........

SO the question is:

DOES ANYONE HERE HOSTING THEIR COPPERMINE WITH 1and1.com have info on the path for ImageMagick or GD.
Or  DOES ANYONE HERE HOSTING THEIR COPPERMINE WITH 1and1.com have any info on how i can get the path??????

DONT TELL ME TO CALL MY HOST PLEASE..... THE PERSON ON THE PHONE HAS NO CLUE OF WHAT IMAGEMAGICK OR GD IS.....

PS: if you dont have an answer or dont care to help plase do not post a smart comment.

If you want to use ImageMagick, the only people who can tell you where it is are your hosts - it's different for every system.  GD is included with PHP and requires no path, although your host has to compile PHP with GD.  You will have to use GD, and we recommend using GD2 - Coppermine, if it can find GD/GD2 on your system, will automatically pick GD2 for you.

If you recieve messages saying Coppemrine can't find ImageMagick or GD, you will have to ask your host to help you.  If the person you talk to doesn't know what GD or ImageMagick is, ask to speak to someone who knows what is going on.  If you still get no answers, you might want to find a better hosting company.

The lack of knowledge displayed by your host's technical support scares me.
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions
But there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

@kegobeer: 1&1 is a german company I used to be hosted on: one of the reasons I went to another company is their lack of skilled helpdesk staff.

@taino: stop shouting and posting flames: the hardcopy of the install screen you posted yourself clearly says that if you want to use ImageMagick, you have to fill in the path. As you don't seem to plan using ImageMagick, simply don't fill in the path and submit the form.  Don't you forget who you're shouting at: we're all unpiad volunteers who do support work for free in our spare time. If you must shout at someone, I recommend the 1&1 staff for a start. Nibbler's posting was perfectly correct, but even if it wasn't that wouldn't give you the right to shout at him (or anybody else who tries to help). If you have no idea, read before posting stupid things. If you have no manners, go outside and do some shouting at the people you usually shout at when you're in a bad mood :-X.

Joachim

HI Joaquin.... hope u know who that was (Joachim)....

I apologise if i shouted to anyone... it was not y intention. I understand that people here are volunteers and even if they were paid noone should be desrespectfull to them. i answered in that way because of frustration and getting an answer that i knew already....

I hope you feel good about calling a perfect stranger stupid it says a whole lot about you.

I wont reply or turn this into a shouting match. I apreciate that the people who come to this board do so in the spirit of cooperation and for that i am grateful.

PS: i left it blank and it was fine thanks Nibbler.

Hein Traag

And you are indeed a picture perfect example of cooperation  ;D

Never forget the golden rules of the support board

read the docs
search the bord
ask nicely

Did you speak to the 1and1 support desk yet ?

You admitted it yourself...

GauGau didn't call you stupid, but your postings. Smart people can say/write stupid things, too. However, your questioning of GauGau's character due to misreading says a lot about your reading comprehension skills...
