Whenever I change anything in the configuration page, the thing hangs..
i have all the permissions set, and another problem is that i cna't upload images..
what's going on? i'm pretty new to linux and stuff..
but like in admin more i can add users and albums, i just can't change anything in configuration page for some reason

Abbas Ali

We cant solve your problems from the information you gave above. Please give URL of your cpg installation, server details.

It will be good if you can PM me the admin username and password of your gallery so that i can check out what's happening. You can later change the password.

I checked your installation. Everything is working fine. I was able to change the configuration, upload files and do all other things.
You can see that i have uploaded 3 images in Test album and changed the name of gallery from config page.

Maybe there is something wrong with your computer. Please check it out from some other computer and post your results.

ok.. *beep*..
it hangs on me still..  >:(

well, if it works for u.. it should work for me..
do u have a router setup?

Abbas Ali

No, i dont have a router setup. Did you checked it from some other computer? May be from your friends computer or some other place.

I guess the problem you are getting is not because of coppermine. Try deleting all cookies and restarting your computer. btw which OS and browser do you use?

Well i've been using Win XP and i've tried both Firefox and IE... both do the same thing.

Then i tried to bypass the router and just plug in my adsl modem to my PC, still no go.

I then tried a different PC on my network, still nothing.

But then this is just what happened. I go to use my laptop which is wireless and it seems to work... like i tried to just change some things in configuration and pressed accept changes and the laptop worked. However, i goto to change some more things, than the same error, it just hangs for like 2 min and comes back and says "document contains no data."

what is up?? this is screwed up!!

Abbas Ali

I guess this has something to do with your network or internet connection. "Document contains no data" comes when the internet connection is not working properly. So i am sorry that i cant help you much in solving your internet connection or network problems.

Ok, i found out more today...

Apparantly if i clear my cache/cookies and login to my site again it will work if i change the config... however the 2nd time i change the conifg it'll hang and not work agian. however if i clear the cache/cookies again and login again, it will work...
what is wrong?

donnoman

I bet you have some security software thats messing with your cookies, like norton internet security, or mcafee's... There's a whole slew of them now.

Try to put the address of your coppermine gallery, in the "safe sites" or "low security" site list.

Try disabling all that protection software and see if it helps.

Some of those apps that say "boost your internet speed" are nothing more than spyware and a redirector to a proxy. That proxy has been known to cause problems.

Try using an app like ad-aware or spybot.sd on top of whatever antivirus you have.  (M$oft also has a beta spyware removal app for XP sp2 users now)

pookguy88

i'm running Firefox and no antivirus things..

i ran spybot and adaware last week...
nothing turned up..

how can i put safe sites in Firefox?

Joachim Müller

donnoman was refering to third party apps like Norton Internet Security and related software (personal firewalls and other "crap"*). Firefox doesn't have a security concept like IE with different trust levels for different sites, although there is an option to deny particular pages cookies, maybe you accidentally set your coppermine page to have cookies permanently denied.
This is definitely not a coppermine issue, but a matter of client setup. Try narrowing down what causes this by temporarily disabling all sorts of software step by step that might interfere with the internet as suggested above (use the task manager to take a look at "hidden" programs and services and shut down all "unneeded" apps temporarily)..

I hope you've only temporarily disabled antivirus software for troubleshooting purposes. You MUST run antivirus software when accessing the internet, and the virus scanner pattern files must be updated regularly.
