Well, if you haven't already known, phpBB is going to release a beta at the end of this month for their next version, phpBB 3. (codename: Olympus) Well, I'm planning on upgrading my board to the beta when released. phpBB 3 will have a new database structure and new code. I know that Coppermine won't work with it right now, but is there gonig to be an updated bridge for that?

But my big question is, can I unbridge Coppermine from phpBB before I do the beta upgrade? Is there any database work I need to do?

Just comment out the define('UDB_INTEGRATION', 'phpbb'); line in init.inc.php.  Bear in mind your phpbb users won't have access to their personal galleries anymore because they don't exist in the Coppermine user table.

When you upgrade, try the current bridge and see if it works.  If it doesn't, post back here.  Maybe one of the bridge coders, or a Coppermine/phpBB supporter, will make an updated version.
Do not send me a private message unless I ask for one.  Make your post public so everyone can benefit.

There are no stupid questions
But there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

Hi,

What are the news about Olympus/cpg1.3 or even olympus/CPG1.4 bridge, since the begining of this post ?

Joachim Müller

none, since nobody from the phpbb community has done as suggested by kegobeer. Be the first one to do as suggested: try using the existing phpbb bridge and report back what happens then, with details (link, non-admin test user account etc.).
