When looking at that thing, the bar that allows you to navigate back through the albums and categories is gone (it usually looks like this: home > category 1 > gallery 1 ) - all of which are links to make it easier to navigate back.

I can't actually remember if I broke the template or if it wasn't there on the classic template in the first place... but how do I get it back? What is it called? Where in the PHP-ball do I find it? Or may I have turned it off in the config panel by accident?

Confused...

It's called breadcrumb. See if you have the setting as shown here:
http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/faq.php#NoLastUploads

If that doesn't help, then the template is messed up.
